About CLSA

CLSA is a group of sailors in the New River Valley area.

Most members keep their boats at the Claytor Lake State Park marina. It is a location convenient to I-81 and adjacent to the largest navigable part of the lake where most of the sailing happens. The park has a boat launch next to the marina with no mast clearance restrictions and there is an ethanol-free gas dock as well.

Want to be involved, but don't have your own boat? Many boats need crew for our races (email the list to let boat owners know you are available!).

CLSA owns a catboat named "Catrina," used typically as a Race Committee boat, that is available to members who have been checked out for basic sailing skills levels. Club Boat information is here.

We also host Sailing 101 lessons, occasional Learn to Sail events at the State Park throughout the summer and assist with a Youth Sail Camp.
