Youth Sailing Camp 2026

Our summer youth sailing camp is hosted and directed by the Sailing Club of Virginia Tech in association with CLSA and the Claytor Lake State Park.

Ages:
8-16 years

2 Sessions:
  • Session 1: August 2-5, 2026
  • Session 2: August 6-9, 2026

Times:
Days 1 & 2: 1pm-5pm
Days 3 & 4: 11am-5pm

Where:
Claytor Lake State Park Green Boating Center (by the beach). (No CLSP parking fee required for camper dropoff/pickup)

Cost:
Free (donations encouraged!)

Requirements:
  • No sailing or boating experience necessary!
  • Students MUST be able to pass a swim test that includes treading water and being able to take off and put on a life jacket in the water in order to attend this camp. The swim test will be conducted on the first day of camp. 
  • While we have a limited number of student-sized lifejackets, if you have a PFD, please bring your own!

The registration deadline for 2026 sail camp was May 1, 2026. Registration is now closed.

Your registration status will be confirmed by May 15, 2026. Everyone not confirmed will be put on a waitlist. As spots open, campers will be notified if they are moved off the waitlist. Notifications will be sent out until 1 week before the first day of each session.
Please note, students who have attended this Sail Camp in the past may be placed on a Waitlist in order to allow more students an opportunity to attend. ​
